What is Holistic Pelvic Care?
Holistic Pelvic CareTM (HPC) is a therapy developed from over 25 years of work, research & hands-on practice by Tami Lynn Kent, a women’s health physiotherapist based in Portland, Oregon.
HPC involves gentle intravaginal massage of the pelvic floor muscles & fascia alongside attending to emotional holding patterns in the pelvic bowl using dialogue, visualisation, breath-work & abdominal contact. Treatments help re-balance the pelvic floor & increase blood flow to pelvic organs, which can improve problematic symptoms.
A consultation is required for all new clients before booking a HPC session. An initial HPC consultation is 90 minutes & includes a detailed case history, discussion of treatment aims, basic introduction to female pelvic anatomy using a skeletal model, & the hands-on treatment itself.
Techniques include intravaginal massage with myofascial release & trigger point work assisted by breathwork & visualisation tools for both physical & energetic balance. Throughout the treatment, we follow the lead of the body, with the body guiding the depth & direction of hands-on work.
The number of treatments depends on the intentions of receiving treatment as well as symptoms. Three sessions are usually recommended to restore basic pelvic balance.
“Edinburgh's worst kept facialist secret!”
I combine my experience as a somatic therapist with advanced face massage to bring you my experiential facial treatments that offer a perfect blend of deep restoration & results driven functionality.
These facials work inside out, focusing regulating the nervous system, unwinding the fascia, releasing emotional/energetic/physical blockages, inviting blood flow & lymphatic drainage through intuitive touch. Results are seen immediately in relieved tension on the face, reduced inflammation, & an inner & outer glow.
As well as sculptural face massage & facial cupping, I offer intra-oral / buccal massage which is particularly supportive to those living with Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction who are seeking a holistic treatment.
Trained by TMJ Massage Therapies, I work gently inside the mouth to access & release various deep jaw muscles often responsible for chronic tension & discomfort. By targeting these specific areas can reduce pain, increase mobility, & relieve the pressure associated with clenching, grinding, & facial tension.
Due to demand, advance booking is highly recommended. For more chronic jaw tension, I suggest 2-4 treatments taken 2-3 weeks apart, followed by monthly maintenance.
